Here’s a great prank to set up (or should we say let set…) over night. Grab your roommate’s, your sister’s, your boyfriend’s (the possibilities are endless!) cell phone while they’re sleeping and take it to the kitchen. Whip up a nice batch of jell-o. Any flavor will do, but if you’re feeling nice why not make it the victim’s favorite flavor? Pour half of the jell-o into the fridge to cool. In the meantime, turn the phone’s ringtone volume up as high as it will go, and then carefully wrap the phone in saran wrap. Once the first half of the jell-o has firmed up enough to hold its shape, place the phone on top of it and pour the remaining jell-o into the bowl. It is best to use an opaque bowl in case the phone’s owner wakes up and comes looking for it. In the morning, get a clean plate and turn the bowl over it to create an instant jell-o mold, and then place your creation back in the fridge. As the phone’s owner starts to search in earnest, play the nice guy and give them a hand by calling their phone. Once they find it, you might have a hard time denying it was you, but you can always try blaming it on Bill Cosby.
AVON CALLING
This is a great homage to the old black eye telescope jokes. For this prank, you will need a home telephone and paint or makeup to match. A white phone can be matched with theater makeup or white out. Shoe polish or a permanent marker works well with black phones, and you can probably find a shade of foundation that will compliment a beige phone nicely. When no one is home, place a newspaper under the most commonly used phone in the house and get to work. You will need both wide and fine brushes if you are painting the phone. The simpler the phone is, the less noticeable the paint is, but by covering the entire hand piece you reduce the contrast. It is best to do this right before people come home, so you know the makeup or paint will not dry. When you are satisfied with your work, remove the newspaper carefully and hide your tools. Leave the room and wait. As soon as someone arrives and enters the room with the pranked phone, call your home number using a cell phone. This usually catches them off guard, and they pick the phone right up. Voila—an instant makeover!
A HARD CALL TO TAKE
You might not want to try this prank if there is only one phone in the house, as it will certainly result in some missed calls (and not just because your victim is killing you). All you need is a phone and some super glue. Phones with cords can be glued in the cradle, but cordless phones are much more fun, as you can glue them upright in the cradle or to any other available surface, like the ceiling. The fast-drying super glue is your best choice; while it sounds funny at first, the last thing you want is for the phone to come free from the cradle only to stick to the victim’s hand or face.
