Halloween Pranks

HALLOWEEN

THE ANTI-HIJACK-O-LANTERN

Tired of other pranksters smashing your pumpkins every Halloween?  This is a great reverse prank.  It’s so simple you’ll wonder why you haven’t tried it before!  After carving your pumpkins this year, just put a light coat of clear super glue on them.  It looks just like the lacquer people use to preserve their pumpkins, and you can reapply it as needed.  It won’t stick to anything that brushes it lightly, but as soon as a pumpkin smasher gets a firm grip to pick it up…  Well, if it works, you’ll be losing your pumpkin anyway, but they’ll think twice about messing with your pumpkins next year.  There are a variety of other things you can coat your pumpkin with like itching powder or, if you’re feeling especially vindictive, rub it with poison ivy.  It’s a quick and easy idea, so get creative with it!

BURY YOURSELF ALIVE

This is a true Halloween classic.  Early Halloween week, dig a small trench in your yard.  Think shallow grave.  It’s best to do this during school hours so none of the neighborhood kids catch on.  Fill it with leaves so the hole isn’t obvious, and the night of Halloween you can crawl into the hole and lightly cover yourself with the leaves.  As children cross the yard, you can moan, rise from the grave, or even grab their ankles as they pass.  If you’re really in the spirit, get into costume as a zombie, a serial killer, etc.  A fake knife or squirt gun adds to the fun (for you that is).  If you want to bring new life to this undead joke, dig a whole graveyard and invite some friends.

CARAMEL ONIONS

This prank is especially effective in the fall or at Halloween, when people are craving caramel apples and won’t question your making them or your charitably sharing them.  If you’ve ever made caramel apples, it’ll make this prank that much easier, but if you haven’t you should still be able to pull it off.  All you need are a few apple-sized onions, caramel, and the craft sticks people use to hold caramel apples.  Peel a few layers off the onions so they will be easier to bite, then rinse them to take away some of the pungency.  You can melt the caramel in a large bowl or by the dip premade.  Pierce the onions with the sticks and coat them in caramel.  You can dress your onions up a bit with nuts or chocolate for authenticity, but the most important thing is to make sure no part of the onion is showing or you’ll blow your cover.  As soon as the caramel has cooled you’re ready to start dispensing your treats.
