COMPUTER
OFF KEY
This prank is probably as old as computers themselves, but with subtlety it’s still a great standby when you’re pranking family or coworkers. All you need is a small screwdriver; heck, even a pen will do it. Simply slide it between two keys and under one then push until the key pops up. Pop out a key beside it, and switch their places. Do this sparingly and it could take them days to realize they’re not just making a lot of typos lately.
WHAT’S THE POINT
Here’s a bit of a duh prank to test a computer user’s IQ. Simply right click on the desktop and open Personal Settings. Among the many customizable display options is Cursor or Pointer. Change the primary cursor to the same icon used for the “Busy” cursor or even the dreaded “Unavailable” X. The next time someone sits down to use the computer, get out your watch and see how long it takes them to realize the cursor is still working.
DISEASED MOUSE
Even computer illiterate pranksters should be able to pull off this trick. Just go to the Start menu and click on Control Panel. Once there, click on Mouse. For 2007 Windows, the first option that comes up in Mouse Properties is “Button Configuration – Switch primary and secondary buttons” with a check box. All you have to do to irritate a much more computer savvy friend is click that little box. While it is very simple to execute, very few computer users will diagnose the problem immediately, or even know where to go to fix it.
